16. February 2019. In the spirit of Kozyra’s ongoing artistic research in exploring boundaries – whether between men and women or humans and animals – MEESE PIECE postulates a reversal of gender in a not-so-subtle reference to a certain (male) artist. (We can’t imagine he would mind.) While developing the work for this particular occasion, it seemed only logical to incorporate a tap dancer into the (musical) counterpoint. MEESE PIECE was composed by Laurie Schwartz and was premiered at the finissage of KATARZYNA KOZYRA | A DREAM OF LINNAEUS’ DAUGHTER at Żak | Branicka by Anna Clementi and Katie Kelly. All text verbatim from public lectures by Jonathan Meese. The work is the first in a series. (Video presents excerpts from the performances.)
DIVAS DESVIANTES are Anna Clementi (performer) and Laurie Schwartz (composer). They develop and present works of experimental music theater, often in collaboration with guest divas.
